Abstract

Since it declared independence, the Republic of North Macedonia has been trying to overcome actual and potential blockages by its neighbours that questioned the country’s basic identity features and related rights. From the very beginning, the European Union has strongly supported the historic agreement signed by prime ministers Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev, following negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations.
